Interesting restaurant. Had a girls’ weekday dinner here. Definitely not a typical steakhouse, with a fusion of American and Southern style. The church vibe gave it a unique dining atmosphere, but the open kitchen also reminded you that it is indeed a descent restaurant.
Pork Can Can seemed to be a bit over cooked with an overly strong smoky taste. The cherry sauce on the top was delicious - however I believe not everyone could adore its sweet & salty flavor, even with a bit sour. Ambrosia salad was highly recommended - even though it’s more like a dessert vs a side to entree. We got Baked Brie Bites and Croquettes as appetizers which were as expected. Mussels, which was on special menu, was very flavorful.
Our server was nice and helpful.
Cons: - reservation fee is $3 pp non-refundable. - parking is very limited.
What a great experience!! The service was impeccable including the hostess, server, and the managers we spoke to. The atmosphere and ambience were just awesome in here. Beautiful interiors. The food was absolutely delicious. The hot onion dip with homemade chips were good, the branzino entree was amazing, the sides (Mac n cheese and Brussels) were delicious, and the dessert was the winner! We ordered the banana pudding and goodness it was the best. Our waiter Steven made our experience even more amazing. What a treat it was to come here. We look forward to coming back soon. Everything on the menu sounded so good.
The service here was exceptional. The food had an unusual twist of flavors together that created a wonderful experience. Every bite was scrumptious. The cocktails are a MUST! I had Romantic Comedy and it was wonderful. The atmosphere was interesting and upscale and engaging. I will 100% be back.
A much heralded Charlotte restaurant, not sure why it took me so long to visit — truthfully, I think I was jaded as diners would typically share “must try” dishes that seemed to be delicious but not gluten-free friendly.
Well, this meal was a reminder that I should reach out to a restaurant instead of only reviewing a menu. We were impressed by the team’s awareness of the dishes — and what was (or was not) gluten-free safe. It was quite easy to order an entire meal without much change. Dessert was the least interesting for me — an adaptation to the banana pudding was offered, but dinner was so satisfying that this was not a needed cap to the night.
We started with the chips and onion dip — though the chips were very over salted —this is a must try dish for sure! We also ordered the summer salad which was a collection of endive, apples, radishes — this was fine, but nothing worth a review/recommendation. The table also ordered the bread with beet butter — not gluten-free, but the table said it was delicious. For dinner we shared many plates: roasted chicken, wagyu pot roast, mushrooms risotto, roasted broccoli, and roasted carrots. Everything was delicious—a great combination of robust flavors and fresh ingredients.
It is worth the note that this is not a reasonably priced meal — taking out the bottle of wine, this meal was easily $50-$75 a person across the split plates — but the dishes were decent sizes, the composition was memorable, and overall this is a meal that felt worth the price.
Lovely setting, we went for brunch late summer ....I would definitely go for a special event as it is a bit pricey. It was a nice & unique experience and food was good. Oyster and eggs Bennie were fantastic as well as the plethora of sweet treats!
My wife and I had an amazing experience! As much as we loved our steak, which was fantastic btw, the risotto and bone marrow broccoli stole the show for us! Our waiter was great and very knowledgeable and the restaurant prepared a birthday card for us which was very kind of them. We definitely will be coming back another time, and hopefully get to try their brunch buffet.
I don't think I can describe how well done every single thing here was. The atmosphere, service (thank you, Eric), and most importantly, the food was unbeatable. This was undoubtedly one of the best meals I've ever had. If you're in Charlotte for one night, this is where you need to eat.
Supperland in the Plaza Midwood neighborhood of Charlotte offers a nice experience, living up to the hype. In an old, refurbished church, the interior and atmosphere are stunning. Open. Bright. Beautiful. The staff is all very friendly and knowledgeable, helping you through the menu as needed— especially Sarah… she was great. I enjoyed the pot roast, roasted carrots, Miso Mac and Cheese…. All excellent. All very hearty and great for the colder weather. The cocktails were nicely mixed… love the clear sphere ice….the Negroni were excellent. The chef’s table was really nice… you can watch the open kitchen cook. My understanding is that they have 1/2 the space available for reservations and the other 1/2 open for walk-ins. Unexpectedly easy to get to from uptown using the Gold Line. I will return.
